Also btw, the way to check if you need to use dxt1 format or dxt5 format is to do what you would do if you were going to import the modified file using splicer but when it first opens you should see a message that will say blaah blaah blaah bc1 or bc3, im still experimenting with bc4 but it will take more time, also make sure you make a backup for your bfres if you are doing this as a test.

I'm using this method for an upcoming mod pack i am creating that will involve a couple of modified character from a mod pack from mario kart wii. simply taking the corrupted file and using splicer import it into the bfres will make it so the corrupted file will become normal again and be usable in game. As you will see, your file is corrupted but i found out that the corruption that happens is actually a pattern. All you do is when you save the file in a window will pop up and in the window press on the arrow for formats and select dxt5 and then press save, use splicer to import the modified file into the the bfres then export the bfres again and go back to your edited file that just exported and view it.

I have searched far and wide to find a fix but with no luck, but i have figured out how to fix this problem. If you do save the files in dxt1 format and use splicer to import them into the bfres when you encrypt it with Yaz0enc and put the file into cafiine, your game will crash when loading the character, also when you export the bfres file after, the miss formated files will be corrupted. Some of these files include but are not limited to, faces, lightning, and reflections on metals. When editing certain files for characters, you cannot save the file as a dxt1 format in. What programms do you use? I use Paint.Net which can actually open and save DDS files :) Then using TexHaxU with Splicer importing the DDS file first with the Mip Number and a 2nd time the GTX number where you place the Mip, saving again and then encrypting with Yaz0enc.īy the way still a great job for the first try :)i use too, i figured out what i was doing wrong but since it seems you didn't know what i was talking about ill explain it for (this will probably help you with future mods). i really want to know so i can finish this really good mod i have been working on. An example would be the last 3 textures of mario's face. Btw, since you seem much more experienced then me, can you tell me if you found what format to save dds files as if you are replacing a bc3 instead of a bc1, people have said use dxt5 but it always results in a corrupted texture.

The DDS appear much darker when editing them than the actual ingame results :)i see, well this is the first mod i have created for this is game, plus i wanted to give all the textures a lighter tone because the 2 colors i was working with the most was yellow and white. The players task in the game is to move the character from the left side of the screen to the right side to reach. In the game, the player will take on the role of Mario - a famous plumber in Italy- who will have to jump through obstacles on the path and attack to kill the enormous monsters to rescue the princess. The idea is good, but you should darken the textures a little bit.
